Earth Hour is the single, largest, symbolic mass participation event in the world that was born out of a hope to mobilise earthlings to take action on climate change.

Last year, we went ‘lights out’ for meditation, reflection, and stillness in the chaos of the parallelogram.

Earth Hour now inspires a global community of millions of people to switch lights off for an hour as a collective show of concern for the environment.

The reach: 7,001 cities and towns across 152 countries and territories. That’s major!

You too can share the experience with over 1.1 m viewers worldwide virtually via JamaicansMusic and Earth Hour International on Saturday, March 27 at 6 pm.

ESIROM conceptualised Earth Hour Jamaica

Jamaica has positioned itself globally as the land of wood and water, which means this tiny island we call home is actually highly susceptible to the effects of climate change.

So, in 2013, the organisers of Earth Hour reached out to JamaicansMusic – managed by Alex Morissey of ESIROM – to join their world movement against climate change.

Using music as the universal language, organisers of the inaugural event took the execution to another level with the first Earth Hour Acoustic concert, also a first of its kind.

The concerts held since then have marked the initiation of Jamaica’s participation in the global movement, garnering the support of over 5,000 patrons.

Morissey and his team provided an evening packed with the natural mystic of live acoustic music and education about the global moment of pause.

Earth Hour concerts have seen the likes of Chronixx, Kelissa, Jesse Royal, and Kabaka Pyramid, and has been hosted by Terri-Karelle.

The ’21 staging is already shaping up to break records too as the organisers shift to the first-ever virtual sphere.

JamaicansMusic is a Rock-endorsed music and entertainment website founded by Alex Morrissey in 2008.

The website’s primary focus is to document the history of Jamaica’s music but also covers news and developments in music, entertainment, and live events.

In the past seven years, JamaicansMusic has executed five Earth Hour concerts.

This year, the event will be streamed virtually and will feature emerging artistes such as ‘Neo Reggae artiste’ Ma’neen, and musical artistes Sarah Couch, Rosh Rebel, Tessellated and D Major.
