We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Morrissey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alex, what do you want your legacy to be?

My goal as a leader is to live a simple, true life based on honesty, connection to the earth, and appreciation of the simple pleasures of life. This is in line with the work I do at the Esirom Group, where we create opportunities and address global challenges facing Jamaica. As a result, we are working on expanding and developing new industries so that Jamaica can become known for more than music, tourism, and sports. It is my ambition to be remembered as a philanthropist and bold adventurer who inspires others through my work, but my ultimate aim is for Esirom Group to be recognized as the catalyst for positive change in Jamaica. It would be exciting to see a legacy of visionary innovators tackling challenges, paving the way to a sustainable future, and inspiring the next generation of Jamaicans to dream big, as I did.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Esirom’s story is one of continuous evolution. We began as a social media management company and have blossomed into a full-service digital agency. Now, we’re transitioning into a dynamic group of companies encompassing entertainment, sustainability, investment, R&D, and manufacturing.

What truly sets us apart is our unwavering vision for growth and desire to build a circular economy within our group. Each entity will be interconnected and support each other, aiming for meaningful impact beyond profits.

The Esirom Foundation is a source of immense pride. In a short time, it has inspired Jamaicans to take ownership of climate change and explore solutions, regardless of financial limitations. This empowers individuals and fosters agency.
We are also incredibly excited about venturing into other industries, creating more opportunities for Jamaicans to gain employment and contribute to the nation’s growth.

My journey has been fueled by the belief that one should never think small. We like to set ambitious goals and break them down into achievable steps. Running a business is undoubtedly challenging, but it is also very rewarding. With the help of our stakeholders, industry leaders, and dedicated team, we learn something new every single day.

Overcoming challenges requires positive thinking and agility. As a result of our ability to adapt quickly to market changes, we remain relevant and effective. Likewise, continuous learning is paramount. As such, I actively listen, read, and immerse myself in every aspect of the business and our clients’ needs. My journey would not be possible without those who took a chance on Esirom. We can demonstrate the good impact the organization can make because of their trust.

It is our goal to make Esirom known around the world as a Jamaican company that is driven by innovation and is deeply committed to our people and our island. We strive to be a force for positive change, creating a ripple effect that empowers Jamaicans and inspires others around the globe.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

If my best friend decided to visit Jamaica I would first start the trip in Kingston, as it is the island’s vibrant capital. We would sample the local cuisine at Devon House, and then tour the Bob Marley Museum on the first day. On the second day, we would travel east, to the lush Blue Mountains and John Crow Mountains for a dip in the refreshing Reach Falls and then a quick swim in the Blue Lagoon’s pristine waters. Afterwards, we would enjoy some Portland Jerk chicken before relaxing on Geejam’s secluded beach.

On the third day, I’d love for us to explore some rich historical sites like Fort Charles in St. Mary before conquering the renowned Dunn’s River Falls in St. Ann. Miss T’s Kitchen would be the perfect spot in the evening for authentic Jamaican cuisine, nestled in the busy town of Ocho Rios. On day four we would unwind on the pristine beaches of Doctor’s Cave in Montego Bay, check out the legendary haunting experience at Rose Hall Great House, and end the day with a fine dining experience at The Houseboat Grill.

Days five and six would entail venturing off the beaten path by exploring some of the many caves and grottos within Hanover. You can’t come to Jamaica and not relax on Negril’s world-famous Seven Mile Beach, where the sunsets are legendary. Finally, the trip would conclude on the weekend surrounded by the laid-back charm of Treasure Beach in St. Elizabeth for us to revel in the local cuisine, and soak up the island’s natural beauty.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

To my entire team who supports the vision.
