In 2020, when everything is digitally at your fingertips, the orange economy continues to thrive.

And, with the catastrophic effects of the coronavirus pandemic, creatives are tasked with moving forward and adapting to the digital sphere relentlessly.

The Jamaican economy is built on the creative industry and includes groups in architecture, audiovisual arts, fashion, music, graphic and industrial design, and digital services, among countless other facets.

ESIROM, which falls under the digital marketing bracket, is one-such local agency that’s pushing buttons.

ESIROM bears the brunt of the pandemic’s impact by building out content and giving back to the industries they contribute to daily.

True to its name, which is an acronym for Encouraging Social Influence; Redefining Online Marketing, ESIROM is set to empower four young creatives through the millennial led, INDIGGO Conference.

The creative forum, which is set to celebrate it’s third anniversary under the From Hustle to Enterprise theme, is as the name suggests, an ode to the process of moving from hustling — which is typically how most creative businesses start — to an ‘enterprise’, what they intend to achieve before retirement.

ESIROM Director Alex Morrissey believes digital execution in all its forms are key to building the creative industries, ‘as a member of the community, we’re set to give back and build it’.

‘With the current limitations of the global pandemic, we know times can be hard and as a business we too feel it, but if we don’t contribute, nobody thrives,’ he said.

‘We’re contributing four creative grants valued at JM$50,000 each for four lucky attendees of the conference. In the spirit of encouragement and building the industry, we’re also accepting trailers for local short films at www.esirom.com.’

With the grant, the winning short will receive funding of up to JM$1m in sponsorship, kind or services, to have the film produced,’ he continued.

The Partnership
To date, ESIROM has sponsored INDIGGO’s pre-event YouTube series which features video editor/director Ruption, event maestro PJ Wright, and Intense host Ashley Miller.

The INDIGGO Creative Conference is a vehicle for the improvement of Jamaican Creatives that was borne of a sheer desire to uplift and encourage young, upcoming artists within the region.

With the current limitations of the global COVID-19 pandemic, INDIGGO organisers have opted for a virtual presentation and goes live in January, 2021.
