WITH its announcement of reaching the 300,000 fan milestone, Digicel Jamaica has now announced a partnership with Jamaicansmusic.com to offer a new music application called ‘My Music’ to its Facebook fans across Jamaica and the Diaspora.

Digicel’s Facebook ‘My Music’ application will be offered free to its Facebook fans and will feature a wide selection of songs from a variety of musical genres from popular local and international artistes.

‘My Music’ is also very interactive and will allow fans to share the musical content with their friends and families online, rate the music quality as well vote for their top-10 music charts each week.

Digicel is the first Jamaican corporate company to offer such an application to online users.

Public relations manager for Digicel Jacqueline Burrell-Clarke has expressed delight at the milestone achievement that the company has received on the social media networking site — Facebook.

She has outlined that Facebook continues to be an integral part of the company’s marketing thrust and Digicel has been actively using the site to engage customers and further connect with its customers across Jamaica.

Said Burrell-Clarke in an interview: “This is definitely a fantastic way to continue to engage our Facebook fans — especially now having reached a remarkable 300,000 milestone — a first in Jamaica for any corporate company. Music is the spirit and energy of Jamaica and the Caribbean at large and so we are very excited about this partnership with Jamaicansmusic.com, the largest music site in the Caribbean. Digicel remains committed to continue to offer innovative ways for our customers to obtain great value through free interactive applications such as My Music’.

In the meantime, CEO for the Jamaicansmusic.com, Alex Morrissey, also echoed Digicel’s sentiments. He further informed that his company is about promoting brand Jamaica and more importantly — Jamaica’s rich and positive music to the world.

As a part of its celebratory to reward its fans for helping them to reach the 300,000 milestone, Digicel has further engaged its fans with extensive giveaways including BlackBerry, Nokia and Samsung handsets as well as an Apple Ipad, movie and gas vouchers and Digicel call credit.

Digicel is the first corporate company in the Caribbean to have attained 300,000 fans on Facebook. The company has been actively using the social media site for customer interaction and engagement, marketing, public relations and to effect corporate social responsible activities such tips to going ‘green’, earthquake preparedness tips and hurricane preparedness activities.
